OTTUMWA — Joseph Paul Wilbanks, 69, of
O’Fallon, Ill., born Oct. 29, 1940, in Ottumwa, died on Tuesday,
Sept. 14, 2010, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Joseph was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and retired from the
military after 21 years of dedicated service. He was a member of
Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the
NCOA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Seletha E., nee
Blew, Wilbanks; and his brother, Verlin “Gene” Wilbanks.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Andriana, nee Neokleous,
Wilbanks of O’Fallon, Ill.; his son, Duane (Felicia) Wilbanks of
Little Rock, Ark.; and granddaughters, Sarah E. Rout and Kelly R.
Szuch; a brother, Frank J. (Lois) Wilbanks of Ottumwa; and sisters,
Ellen (Leon) Rachford of Ottumwa, Sherry (Ben) Richards of Ottumwa,
Cindy (Mark) Canny of Colfax and Lila Parker of Ottumwa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society or to Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church
building fund.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Sts. Constantine and Helen
Greek Orthodox Church, 405 Huntwood Road, Swansea, Ill. A trisagion
service will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Sts.
Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church with Father Achilles
Karathanos officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial
Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
