BLOOMFIELD — Carl E. Boas, 70, of 10499 Mink Blvd., died at 9:27
p.m. May 23, 2011, at home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1941, in Belknap to Wilbur Lewis and Marie Faye
Amelang Boas. He married Margaret McIntosh Dec. 10, 1961.
Carl served in the Iowa Army National Guard with the 224th Combat
Engineers.
He was a plumber and pipe fitter for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Midway Calvary Baptist Church, AWANA, Plumbers
and Pipe Fitters Local #125 of Cedar Rapids, Tri-County Bass Club,
Wapello County Bass Club, Davis County Civil War Guerilla Raid
Society, Sons of Union Veterans and Ottumwa Roundtable. He served on
the Pioneer Cemetery Committee and sat on the Lee County Plumbers
Examining Board for 28 years.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Dianna Boas of
Bloomfield; a son, Mike Boas of Bloomfield; four grandchildren,
Christopher Boas, Cody Boas, Celia Martinez and Colton Boas; and
three brothers, Tom (Mary) Boas, Ray (Patricia) Boas and Roy (Patsy)
Boas, all of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Boas.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with
Pastor Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Drakesville
Cemetery with military services conducted by the Iowa Army National
Guard Honor Guard.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present
from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Calvary Baptist
Church or Davis County Civil War Guerilla Raid Society.
