Vernon Grant Osborne, Jr. 75, Clinton, Iowa Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Clinton A.M.V.E.T.S. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Osborne, Gil Gilchrist, Russ Mayer, Rick Martinez II, Ian Trader, and Evan Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Halsted and Adam McColley.

Vernon Grant Osborne, Jr. was born August 23, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Vernon G. and Alberta L. (Williams) Osborne, Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Ottumwa High School, certified electric service and appliance repair diploma through Advance Schools Inc. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He married Bonnie McWilliams on December 18, 1965 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Vernon worked for Rock-Tenn as a trainer and operator for 48 years. During his employment he earned many achievement awards and gained the respect of his colleagues. He retired from Rock-Tenn in 2008. He was an active member of the Bible Missionary church in Clinton, doing countless activities and jobs over the years. Sunday School Super Intendant, Treasurer, Head Trustee, Bus Driver, and willingly did various handyman repairs needed within the church, and church family homes. With his spare time around the house he would make things for others with his extensive wood working skills, such as Hope Chests for his Granddaughters, podium and cross for the church. He loved gardening and spending time with his family. Vernon is survived by his wife: Bonnie of Clinton; three children: Linda (Gil) Gilchrist of Ankeny, Iowa, Judy Halsted of Clinton, and Jerry Osborne of Clinton; three grandchildren: Shawna Halsted, Jennifer Halsted, and Adam McColley; three great grandchildren; and two brothers: Larry Osborne of the Rockford Illinois area and Bill Osborne of Altoona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial may be made to the Bible Missionary Church - Clinton.
