Obituary of Tommy Leon Tommy R. Leon, 69, of 902 Clinton Ave., died at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 2, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Ottumwa to Herbert C. and Marjorie V. Buchanan Leon. He married Frances Dillon Dec. 4, 1976. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1960. He had worked for Asarco Copper Mine in Tucson, Ariz., Hy-Vee food stores in Bethany, Mo., and for 10 years as a mechanic and driver for Ottumwa Transit Line, retiring in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Frances; four daughters, Dene (Terry) Moody of Cookeville, Tenn., Tami (Robert) Greathouse of Elko, Nev., Glenda (Fred) Widmer of Ottumwa and Cindy (Keith) Sturdivant of Florence, Ky.; two sons, Marty Leon of Tucson, Ariz., and Tony (Dana) Leon of Ottumwa; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Walker of Fort Collins, Colo., Donna (Tommy) Kendall of Drakesville and Wilma Morrison of Hurdland, Mo. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Floris Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
