OTTUMWA - After a long struggle with scleroderma, Tom took the final step on his journey through this life into the next on October 22, 2005.
The body has been cremated, and traditional services are not planned.
He was born August 18, 1941 in Ottumwa, IA to Wilford Lemar and Elizabeth Anne (Fitzgerald) Riley. They were later divorced. He married Donna Rosiland Graham on July 27, 1961 in Dowagiac, Michigan. A daughter, Linette Renee was born on May 29, 1965.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, and many family members, Anne Bottorff (Ross), of Sallisaw, OK, Charles Riley of Tampa, FL, Janis Bottorff (Rex), Cindy Robertson (Barry) of Ottumwa, IA, Becky Davis (Jim) of West Des Moines, IA, and Kate Bowne (John) of Emporia, KS, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

His parents preceded Tom in death.
The family spent the most of their life in Cedar Falls, IA. Tom spent the majority of his working life in the building materials and construction industries, most recently as the co-owner of Edwards Sales Corporation in the Minneapolis area. He and Donna retired to Pella, IA after the sale of the business to his partner at the close of 2001.

Over the years Tom was involved with many Fraternal and Professional Organizations, including the Jaycees, Masons, Elks, International Hoo-Hoo, Home Builders Associations, Construction Specifications Institute, and others.
Tom enjoyed playing hockey and golf, as well as fishing, camping and watching automobile races. His favorite races were midgets and sprint cars.
A Service Day in Tom's honor will be held in Black Hawk County, Iowa, as a work day on a current Habitat for Humanity project. The work day will be scheduled for April 2006.

Following the work day there will be a semi-traditional "Wake" held for anyone wishing to tell tales of their association with Tom. One need not have attended the workday to attend the "Wake".
Those wishing to offer a memorial at this time are asked to give to either their local Habitat for Humanity Chapter or the Hospice of Pella, Pella, IA, 50219.
