Shirley M. Hare, 78, of Floris, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 1:50 a.m. November 29, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born June 7, 1941 in Ottumwa to Edward “Moody” and Dolores Smith. She married Almon Junior Hare February 14, 1959 and he preceded her in death June 9, 2017.
Shirley graduated from Ottumwa High School and drove a city bus and for Ottumwa schools. She also drove a semi with her husband for ten years. She had owned her own business, Bunny Stitches and co-owned Lick Creek Treasures with her best friend, Jeanette Helmick.
She was a member of Midway Calvary Baptist Church and Civil Defense as block mother.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis “Dink” Hare of Bloomfield and Tim “Rabbit” (Shauna) Hare of Pella; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Parsons of Fremont; a brother Doug Smith, of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William Edward Hare and infant, Bobby Hare; a granddaughter and two great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in Floris Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family.
