OTTUMWA- Jerry Dallas Hamm, 84, of Ottumwa, died at 11:35 p.m. July 22, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society- Ottumwa after a courageous battle with dementia.

He was born February 10, 1941 in Troy, IA to Miles Clayton and Mabel Sidwell Hamm. Jerry married Norine Razinha February 15, 1962 and she preceded him in death June 24, 2025.


Jerry served 12 years in the U.S. Navy and 8 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He had worked 30 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works.  He had worked as a setup man on the round baler, with his final 5 years in the experimental department, retiring in 1998.

Jerry enjoyed dirt track racing, and softball with his family and friends, as well as traveling with his beloved wife.


Surviving are his children, Sheila (Tony) Fetter of Ottumwa, Clayton "C.J.” (Ashley) Hamm of Eldon and Kenny (Angie) Hamm of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, Jerred Reed, Chelsea Beary, Drayton Hamm, Andrew Mitchell, Dawson Hamm, Lathan Hamm, Noah Hamm, Drake Hamm, Grace Hamm, Hayston Hamm and Holston Hamm; 2 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin Hamm.



He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leona Johnson; and brother, Kenneth Hamm.



Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Friday, July 25th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. 



Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Clark officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eldon Senior Meals.
