George Edmund Ware was born March 8, 1941, to Lawrence and Doris (Scully) Ware, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He may have been an only child, but he had over 100 (foster) brothers and sisters. He passed away at Wesley Life - Park Centre in Newton, on June 16, 2020.
George graduated from Ottumwa High School. He was united in marriage to LaDonna Miller on September 2, 1962, at The Church of the Brethren in Ottumwa. To this union they were blessed with two children: Melody and Floyd. George was a laborer and held many different jobs throughout life.
George had many hobbies and interests: rock collecting, genealogy, CB radios, remote controlled boats, making fishing lures and sinkers, worms, and flying remote airplanes. He also enjoyed fireworks, cooking, stamp collecting, making puzzles, woodworking, making crafts for nursing home residents, making plaster of paris molds, candle making, macramé, photography, trains and gardening. George was a member of the Iowa National Guard training to drive a one-man tank. He could always liven up a room with a good joke and was known for his quick wit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Melody and Frank Utterback of Otley, his son Floyd and Linda Ware of Otley, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his wife LaDonna, his parents Lawrence and Doris Ware, and his parents-in-law William and Grace Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 20, at the Church of the Nazarene in Pella. A socially distant visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials maybe given to Wesley Life - Park Centre. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
