Eva (Gordy) Peterson

 Peterson.jpg) OTTUMWA-Eva M. Peterson, 74, of 202 S. Ward, died at 9:50 p.m. October 7, 2015 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born May 26, 1941 in Schuyler Co., MO to William Earnest and Eva Irene Collier Gordy. She married Carl O. “Pete” Peterson Jr. on September 16, 1961. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2000.
A 1959 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Eva earned an A.A. in Health & Human Services from Indian Hills Community College in 1989, and a B.A. in Social Work & Psychology from Buena Vista University in 1991.
She worked for Tanager Place as a case worker, and had been a photographer for Sears Photography. She was a member and treasurer of the Bunco Club. Eva enjoyed playing piano, attending theater musicals, crocheting, reading, spending time with her Hospice support group, spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Patricia and Jim LaPoint of Ottumwa, Jason and Amy Peterson of Wentzville, MO; five grandchildren, Jimmy LaPoint (Kelsey Kelly-Celania), Matthew Phillips, Nathan (Sarah) Phillips, Cassie LaPoint, Natalie Peterson; great-grandson, Noah; a sister, Brenda (Steve) Hinebaugh of Ottumwa; a brother, Jack Gordy of Chariton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin grandsons, Drake and Mitchell Peterson; a brother, Harold LeRoy Gordy and a sister, Cheryl Troxel.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
